BALTIMORE − Despite trailing 4-1 in Tuesday's game against the Orioles at Camden Yards, New York Yankees star Juan Soto basked in the limelight after a monstrous home run off starter Dean Kremer.
In the top of the sixth, Soto launched one 474 feet over the right field wall, onto Eutaw Street – the first such homer of the year and 123rd in Camden Yards history.
Then there was a verbal exchange and a stare down.
“At the end of the day, we’re all grinding,’’ said Soto, whose dig at Kremer was an interesting development in what could be a season-long divisional fight.
Asked what Kremer had said to him, Soto replied: “Ask him,’’ then added they’d been going back and forth.

“He didn’t like the shuffle,’’ Soto said of his signature move after taking a pitch. “I bet he didn’t like the homer, too.’’
Soto’s team-leading seventh homer of the year was the 11th by a Yankee hitter to land on Eutaw, in front of the B&O Warehouse Building, and the first by a Yankee since Didi Gregorius on Aug. 8, 2019.
The Orioles held on for a 4-2 victory, winning two-straight against their division rivals. Heading into Wednesday's game, they hold a one-game lead over the Yankees in the American League East division.
